There is nothing profound in this post, unless alcohol, weenies and chocolate are profound to you (and if so, you can be my new best friend). These are just a few recipes I found and recently tried, and they were wildly successful with the fam. The first two are drink recipes...one is for alcohol lovers and kind of summery, but that shouldn't stop you from trying it. And one is non-alcoholic and has the pure taste of fall.
I call this "Mama's Raspberry Lemonade"
Ingredients:
I don't have an "exact" recipe, I just winged it, but here is what I mixed (split each ingredient in half to make two batches)
1 can of frozen pink lemonade concentrate (it is VERY strong, so helps to dilute it more than it calls for)
1 bottle Lucky Duck Moscato
1 container of Raspberries (Put as many or as few as you want--afterwards I started thinking it would be fun to freeze the raspberries and use them as "ice", people use frozen grapes, so why not??--Next time!)
Directions:
Mix all that shit together in a pitcher, and voila!
"Pumpkin Spice Latte"
Ingredients:
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons sugar or sugar substitute – adjust to taste
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
2 cups milk
2 tablespoons canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons sugar or sugar substitute – adjust to taste
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup strong brewed coffee
Directions:In a saucepan stir together milk, pumpkin and sugar. Cook and stir over medium heat until steaming. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and pumpkin pie spice and whip the mixture with a wire whisk until it is foamy. Pour coffee into mug (or mugs if you're being nice and sharing) and then pour pumpkin mixture into mug on top of coffee. The last step is absolutely crucial. Do not, and I mean DO NOT, for any reason, skip this step. ADD WHIPPED CREAM TO THE TOP! You can also sprinkle pumpkin spice, nutmeg, or cinnamon (tigers love pepper, they hate cinnamon) on top as well, I prefer not to but it definitely makes it look pretty! Bye bye Starbucks...
"Chili Dog Casserole"
If you love a good weenie (and what girl doesn't, am I right ladies??), this recipe is for you! Or, if you have a house full of boys like I do, this recipe is for you too!
Ingredients:
1 package bun length hot dogs (we like the bun length, no one likes a short weiner)
1 package of fajita size tortillas to wrap those babies up
1 large can of chili
1 package shredded cheese
(change the number of dogs/tortillas/cans of chili to suit the size of your group)
Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. In a glass dish, spread half a can of chili on the bottom of the pan. Roll the dogs up in the tortillas and place in dish. Spread remaining chili on top of tortillas, and then cover the crap out of the entire dish with cheese. Cover with foil, and put in oven for 25-30 minutes. Watch as your family devours this dish like a pack of hungry dogs.
"Smoreos"
Ingredients:
1 package oreos
1 package marshmallows
1 package hershey bars (we also used Mr. Goodbars)
Milk
Directions:
Twist the oreos apart. Roast a marshmallow (it was raining outside so we used our gas stove instead of a fire--hey, make it work!!). Place a piece of chocolate on the oreo and then your flaming hot marshmallow on top and close that baby up. Watch the ooey gooey goodness flow out of the sides and take a fat girl bite like you mean it! Repeat as necessary. Have a glass of milk handy because your mouth is going to be confused and need some liquid to clean it out! Enjoy!
If you try any of these recipes, let me know how you liked them. Also if you try any but add your own twist to it, tell me what you did differently and if it was delish!
Happy Tuesday Rockstars!
